SCHOLARS BOWL

What's the Scholars Bowl?

Scholars Bowl is where you and your squad of three roll up and answer questions blowin’ up on a big screen. The questions come in all types: multiple choice, puzzles, videos, and sometimes straight up wild. Your squad needs to chop it up and click the answer on your clicker. You don't have to know everything to win; teamwork, quick thinking, and creativity are what stack points. Even if you gotta guess, it’s part of the flex. The event is lit, with memes and good energy, so enjoy it while getting them points.

using your clicker

Each question got five options: A, B, C, D, or E. Once you and your squad agree on an answer, click on it. You can switch the answer while the timer is poppin’, but once the time ends, your answer is locked.

How the Bowl Works

Time:

  • The staff reads each question and breaks it down if needed. After that, your squad gets 10–30 seconds to chop it up and pick an answer. The staff usually counts down at 10 seconds and again at 5 seconds. When the time is up, the correct answer drops.

Points:

  • Early questions are lowkey, usually around 200 points, while later ones hit heavy up to 1,000 points. Peep the points so you can stack them.

Lightning Round:

  • The Lightning Round has five rapid fire questions. Each question must be answered in less than ten seconds. Quick moves and trusting your instincts are key.

Betting Round:

  • The Betting Round is the final round, where your squad can bet points on your answer. You can choose to bet 500, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, or 2,500 points. If you answer correct, you get the points you bet. If you answer wrong, you lose those points. Big brain, big risk, big reward.

What's Happening?

  • When you roll up, make sure you wear your name tag and sit only with your squad, no classmates creeping. Keep it real and fair.

  • One homie from your squad will be called to grab the clicker. The staff usually picks this by calling a random letter from one of your name tags. In larger rounds, teams may be called in groups so it don’t get crowded. Staff might throw some fun tasks, like taking a clicker selfie, to get you warmed up.

  • The staff will teach you how to use the clicker, including how to switch an answer fast if needed. Then, there will be a few practice questions worth zero points, just to get your squad in the zone.

  • Once practice is over, the real questions start. Squad up and start stacking them points. Midway, there’s a 20–40 minute break, where each team gets a lil’ alpaca and takes the Alpaca Oath.

  • The second half continues the same vibe, ending with the Betting Round. After the last question, celebrate your squad’s wins or reflect on your answers. One homie returns the clicker, your “fourth squad member," until the next Bowl.

Tips

  • Assign one homie as the “clicker boss.” This person should sit in the middle so the other two can feed knowledge. Only switch the clicker answer if just one person has a different take.

  • Review the curriculum before the event. Being confident and knowing your stuff gives your squad a better shot at medals or trophies.

  • If you don’t know an answer, take a guess. A wrong guess is better than ghosting the answer.

  • Some questions link to TikToks, memes, or pop culture. Think creatively, connect it to the curriculum, and flex your  creativity.
